LIVING YOGA : Practical Applications of Yoga
  

OVERVIEW

Conducted over a day, this workshop explores some of the philosophical principles underlying the practice of Yoga. We demonstrate how Yoga can be assimilated into your daily lives, enhancing your ability to manage your responsibilities/relationships at work and home. Properly understood, Yoga will provide a practical blueprint for living that will enable the right balance between your need for growth in the material sense, without compromising your overall need for peace, harmony, happiness and spiritual growth. During the day, you will also practice some Hatha yoga processes that will increase your resistance to stress, elevate your levels of awareness and over a period of time, help you understand yourself and your role in life.


WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES


A behind the scenes look at "Yoga" i.e. its background, purpose, methodology and applications.

 

Introducing a set of internalization processes that will prepare you for deeper introspection and contemplation.

 

Introduce the philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali's Yoga sutras that form the backbone of all Yoga literature. With right understanding, you will be able to significantly speed up the beneficial effects of your regular yoga practice.

Session 1 - Yoga processes

Class Practice (Duration: 2 hours)

 Asana (Yoga Postures)
 Pranayama (Breathing related processes)
 Awareness and Visualisation processes
 Mantra repetition

Session 2 - Introduction to Yoga
Class Discussion (Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes)

 The purpose of life and the role of Yoga?
 A glimpse into the philosophy and applications of the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali's Yoga Sutras

 Lunch

Session 3 - Practical Applications
Class Discussion (Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes)

 Managing Emotions
    o  Anger
    o  Arrogance/Low self esteem
    o  Dealing with Stress

 Managing Emotions
    o
 Science of Sound - How does a mantra work and help with emotion  culturing

Session 4 - Principles behind the Processes
Class Discussion & practice (Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes)

 Practice of internalization processes
 Mantra chanting
